Last Minute Revision Tips

Revision tips:

My GCSE exams start in 13 days; I have two French exams and then two biology exams. All in one day… So after all of the stress of the exams getting closer and closer I have managed to pick up a few tips for revising and preparing for exam season.

The first tip I have is figure out what type of learner you are. There are four main types:
·         Auditory
·         Visual
·         Read write
·         kinaesthetic
If you don’t know what type of learner that you air, the chances are that you are not learning as well as you should be. Some people learn by listening to podcasts and others learn by re-writing key information. Personally, I am read write kinaesthetic. I don’t learn from podcasts or anything like that and I have realised that there is no point in wasting my time on those sorts of resources.

Another thing that you can do to learn key information is to create posters. This may not work for anyone but the majority of people that I know use this technique. Also, when you are making these posters there is no point in writing in black pen because your brain will not be able to remember all the black text. So, when you are making them be sure to use bright colours.

Additionally, another thing to do is to make sure that you don’t get overworked. You should revise for about one hour and then take a twenty minute break. Taking the break makes sure that your brain can comprehend all the information that you have just reviewed. This makes sure that you don’t get swamped with all key words, numbers and graphs.

If you follow those few steps than you will be more prepared for your exams and the stress starts to lift.

My Week Away

My Week Away

Over the past week I have been on holiday with my family and three dogs. I went to North Wales and took a week away from revision and things. The thing that I did the most was take pictures, I have a Fujifilm Finepix S100 FS and I absolutely love it. Here are some of the pictures that I took:

These are photos are taken at Bala lake at Sunset. Although the sunset didn’t result in beautiful colours in the sky I still think that I managed to get a couple of okay pictures that I am quite happy with.

As you can see there are a lot of lambs. This is because near the site where we stay the fields are full of sheep and since it’s around Easter there are a lot of lambs running around and they where absolutely adorable.

Also during the week we visited Fairbourne and Barmouth. We go to Fairbourne because the beach there is dog friendly and since we had three dogs with us (one is mine, one is my nans and we were looking after my aunties dog.). We also went and looked around Barmouth but we didn’t pick up anything too special.

A Friday Day Out

Last Thursday my school broke up because Friday was a bank holiday. So, to take advantage of this extra day off I went into Liverpool City Center with one of my best friends. I picked up a couple of things whilst we were out and we also went to the Liverpool World Museum.

The first place that we went to was Lush and I picked up my usual, Granny Takes a Dip and the Butterball:

After Lush we walked up to Waterstones. I cannot leave that store without buying a book and this time around I bought two. I already have the first book in the Gone series so I thought I would buy the next two:

When we had spent some time wandering around Waterstones we went to the World Museum to pass some time and I found it extremely interesting.

There are various mummies in the Ancient Egypt section and some of the Buddhist artifacts were just beautiful.

Furthermore, although I don't necessarily agree with the way that the insects are displayed some of the butterflies and dragonflies were stunning.

Also, there were a lot of fossils that were so well preserved that they looked fake, not a couple million years old.

Overall, I had a really great day and I would recommend the Museum to anybody who has the slightest interest in history.

6 Most Weird and Disturbing Children’s Toys

6 Most Weird and Disturbing Children’s Toys:

Pregnant Barbie – Whoever thought it would be a good idea for a child to help a Barbie doll give birth to a baby needs their head testing. I don’t understand how this was allowed to be released on the children’s toy market. There must have been some people that saw the issues that come along with letting a child help a toy give birth!

Musical Jolly Chimp – It’s the eyes. This isn’t so bad in terms of morals but if I had a child I would not give them this toy as it is probably one of the most disturbingly creepy toys I have ever seen. I’m 16 and this creeps me out I wonder what a child thinks about it

Breast Feeding Doll – I think this is worse than the pregnant Barbie. It is unnatural to allow a six year old to breast feed a baby! How is this allowed to be toy?

Straight Jacket for Kids – Your child is annoying you, bouncing off the walls after all the cakes and biscuits. You don’t know what to do to calm them down so what do you do? You put them in a straight jacket! How is this thing that is allowed to go ahead, a child straight jacket is just strange!

Face Bank – I understand where this toy was going and I can see if, with a bit of adaptation that it could be a really good way to store your money. But how it is right now is damn right creepy, the face shape just isn’t right…

Road Kill Cat – Road kill is something that parents shield their children’s eyes from and yet now some parents think that is a good idea to go out and buy their child a toy cat that has just been hit by a car!
